Happy Sunday! We’re currently away for the weekend, celebrating my Mum’s 60th Birthday (she’s probably going to slap me if I keep telling everyone she’s 60). I’m so very lucky to have such an amazing Mum; she’s forever helping us out, spoiling our kids and always worrying about us (stop worrying Mum!) So we’re treating her to some much needed sunshine and family time in Echuca.
As always, it’s been a busy few weeks. My bestie had a baby (her third child) on the same night that I headed into the city to Singin In The Rain. I pulled Mum duty last week and headed to my son’s kinder to help out for the day which was lots of fun. We also took our first tour of a primary school which made me stop and reflect on how quickly our boy is growing up! On that note, thank you also to everyone who gave me some great advice after I wrote this post, turns out I really just need to trust myself and my instincts and let things happen naturally.
In other exciting news I’ve recently joined the team at The Organic Place working behind the scenes, doing some writing and other bits and pieces. I’m loving being part of a small family business that’s doing such great things. You can read their story here.
Notice that new little badge on my sidebar? I was so excited this week to receive an email to say I’ve been nominated for the 2016 Bupa Blog Awards. Finalists will be announced in July with the overall Winner being announced in September. I have no doubt the competition will be fierce, there are some extremely talented bloggers out there but I’m just happy to have received a nomination.
So that’s it from me for now. What’s new with you lately?
Happy Mothers Day! If you’re a Mum I hope you’re lying in bed right now, reading this, being served breakfast like a queen. My Mum, my sister and I are heading off to Gold Class this afternoon to see Mothers Day– quite fitting considering the occasion don’t you think? I was also treated by my son at kinder this week with a special mothers day celebration. He gave me a massage (complete with cucumbers on my eyes), made me afternoon tea (yummy scones) and painted my nails. Super cute! This is exactly what I was talking about in my last post; the joy of being able to be there for these moments is the best!
Aside from Mum duty, I’ve been a busy little bee this past few weeks. Last weekend I headed into the city to meet up with Pip and the Blog with Pip crew (well those who could make it anyway). Such a nice bunch of people. I was so busy chatting that I didn’t even get a chance to take any photos (gasp!) It was lots of fun, nice to finally meet some bloggers I’ve been stalking following in real life and chat with likeminded people. Speaking of Pip, have you seen her awesome new e-course Blog Magic, it looks like a lot of fun! Thinking I might have to sign up…
Whilst I was in the city for the Pipsters catch up I took the opportunity to check out the 100 Years of Fashion exhibition at the NGV and do a spot of shopping at my favourite store- H&M (I’m just a touch excited about this announcement). There may have also been a sneaky visit to the Lindt café involved too.
I’ve been really enjoying setting some goals and finding some direction in my life coaching sessions. We’re focusing on self care (working towards a healthier me) and nurturing my creativity and creating some strategic goals around my writing. The process is really interesting and I look forward to sharing more about it with you in the near future.
This month we’re booked in for some school tours…seriously we’re already at the point where we need to decide what school to send our son to next year…scary stuff! And we’ll be celebrating my Mums 60th Birthday- so it’s more busy times ahead!
What have you been up to lately? How are you celebrating Mothers Day? Are you as excited by podcasts, carpool karaoke and literary festivals as I am?
It’s been a couple of weeks since my last Sunday Session and we’ve got lots to catch up on so pour yourself a cuppa and pull up a chair…
The blogosphere went into overdrive last week when Veggie Mama, Stacey shared this post. It was so nice to have her back in such a real and honest way and it sparked a big conversation about the idea of being a ‘useless blogger’. Everyone started calling themselves that; and loving it too! At first I wasn’t sure about the whole thing, ‘useless’ seemed like such a negative word. But then I started reading all the posts; this one by Bron and this one by Robyna and then I got it. It dawned on me that I was pretty much saying the same thing just in a different way when I wrote this post on career and creativity. It’s all about getting back to writing for the love of writing and I can definitely get behind that! Turns out that post has been my most popular yet, which I think says a lot. Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment.
After that post I was contacted by someone who I’ve connected with over Instagram. She is studying to be a life coach at the Beautiful You Coaching Academy (which I’ve heard lots about) and needs to coach three people pro bono in order to receive her qualification. My post caught her attention and she emailed me to see if I might be interested in participating in a series of six one on one life coaching sessions. I gratefully accepted. I’ve always been a bit interested in the whole life coaching thing and I’m excited to see what comes of it. She said it felt like it was a case of serendipity that lead her to read my post that day and I have to say I agree! We start this weekend so I’ll keep you all posted with how it goes.
I’ve been enjoying letting creativity back into my life. I visited the Andy Warhol- Ai Weiwei Exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. I really enjoyed it. If you haven’t been yet you should totally check it out, it’s on until 24th April.
Then last weekend I went to the Love Your Camera workshop hosted by Angie Baxter with a couple of friends. If you’re looking to learn how to use your DSLR in manual mode I would highly recommend this course. I learnt so much in one day! I also signed up for The Photo School online course which I’m making my way through now. I used to spend a lot of time playing with my camera so it’s been nice to pick it up again.
School Holidays were super busy with the lil man. We went to the movies to see Zootopia, it was really cute and has some beautiful messages in it. It was also the first time he has actually sat through a whole movie at the cinema which was a definite win! We went to the Fairy Park, headed to the beach for a couple of days and enjoyed lots of play dates with cousins and friends. Hubby gets a bit jealous when he misses out on all the fun so we also spent the day in the city last Sunday, walking around and exploring. We took the lil man to Hosier Lane and few other spots where he could watch some graffiti artists at work. He was in awe.
So this week it was time to get back into routine. The lil man has headed back to kinder and I’ve made a commitment to be a healthier me. I appreciated all the tips and suggestions people gave me about this. It’s one week in and I think I’m doing pretty well. I’ve managed a long walk everyday and am doing great with my food.
What have you been up to lately? Have you been to the Warhol Weiwei exhibition or seen the movie Zootopia? Ever had a life coach? Tell me all the things!
Happy Sunday to you and Happy Birthday to me! That’s right, it’s my birthday today and this morning I hopped on a plane with my hubby and son for a week long family holiday in Port Douglas yay! I’m sure I’ll be posting some holiday snaps on instagram this week so stay tuned.
Hubby and I started the week by heading to a ‘crossing over’ night with a local psychic. I’m a believer and it turns out most of you are too. It was quite interesting and a bit of fun, I’d definitely go again.
This week the world celebrated International Womens Day and I shared this post and these images on my facebook page. I think the images are amazing. I don’t have any photos of the moment when my son was born and it’s one of my biggest regrets. I had been moved to another room to give birth and we forgot to bring the camera with us. The nurse ran back to grab it but the moment had already passed. Do you have photos of the moment your children were born?
I was really excited to chat to Nicole and take part in her ‘My Favourite Space’ series on her blog The Builders Wife. Head here to check out the post!
This week we’ve also started the process of looking at schools for the lil man next year, eeek! The primary schools in our town are zoned and the school in our catchment area isn’t our preference and so this means we’re going to have to convince a school from outside of our zone to accept our son. It’s all a bit nerve racking and Karin from Calm to Conniption’s post reminded me it’s serious business!
Is it just me or did this week go by super fast? March already, seriously?! Melbourne clearly didn’t get the memo that Autumn has started with the majority of the week 30 plus degrees.
My week started off waking up in Kudos Villas, Hepburn Springs….
It was our sixth wedding anniversary. Hubby and I take it in turns each year to organise a night away and this year it was my turn. Kudos Villas is ah-mazing (the photos don’t really do it justice). I think he’s going to find it hard to beat next year!
We spent Sunday strolling around Daylesford, checking out the market, antique stores and my favourite book shop. A perfect weekend.
This week I asked all the foodies out there for some help. Some really great suggestions were made to ease me into the world of cooking and food appreciation- I am currently stalking blogs and borrowed a bunch of cookbooks from the local library. Stay tuned for developments on this one.
I also wrote about my fear of flying, seems that many of you feel the same way. My plan is to load up with podcasts, books, magazines and anything else I can think of to distract myself on our flight to Port Douglas next weekend.
Who’s started their Easter shopping? Me! I usually buy the kids in our family PJ’s and an easter book plus some chocolate eggs. I’m trying to hold of on buying the eggs though because I know they will either a) melt or b) be eaten before Easter even arrives.
Sit down, grab a cuppa, let’s catch up on the week that was….
Our little family was hit with the gastro bug this week, not fun at all! First the little man- it lasted all of a day and he was back to himself, bouncing off the walls (kids are so resilient aren’t they?!) and then hubby and I. We spent a whole day in bed taking it in turns vomiting and rubbing each others backs (now that’s true love). Followed by a day of disinfecting the whole house and I think we’re all good now!
I was overwhelmed this week by support and positive comments when I decided to tell the truth. All I can say is you guys are amazing and thankyou!
Who else was excited to finally see the release of ‘reactions‘ on facebook? Fun! I thought they’d just give us an ‘dislike’ button but they’ve gone even further and given us more options, yay!
This week hubby and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary. As you read this we’ll be living it up at Kudos Villas in Hepburn Springs. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed somewhere so fancy (last anniversary we stayed at a caravan park), it has an outdoor bath for goodness sake….I can’t wait!
In other news, I’ll admit I’ve become hooked on ‘I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!’ anyone else? We chated about it on my facebook page earlier in the week. (If you don’t yet follow Sarahdipity on facebook please do, I spend a bit of time there!)
Lastly, the countdown to our family holiday in Port Douglas in on! We’ll be heading there in just two weeks and I’m so looking forward to it! We’ve never been up that way before so if anyone has any suggestions for must see’s and do’s please let me know!
